In 1943, Shireen Smit–Kerbert (1907-2002), a Dutch mureed of Hazrat Inayat Khan, took the initiative to ask her fellow mureeds to write down their recollections of the Indian Sufi master. As a result, over a hundred original mureeds sent her their stories, sharing their personal experiences and painting a unique picture of the atmosphere Inayat Khan created, his humor, his style of teaching, his way with children, his healing capacities, and his visions. Originally deemed not fit for wider circulation, as the reports of Hazrat Inayat Khan as the new world leader would create a warped image of Inayat Khan, the Collection was only available for a select circle of Sufi initiates. With this publication, it is now for the first time available to a general public.
